1. How does eScan charge for its services?

eScan is a success based partner. We only charge the Provider after it has been remitted by Medicaid and agrees that the money found was because of eScan software. eScan then charges a percentage of what the Provider has been paid.

2. How does eScan treat accounts that appear to be eligible for Medicaid that are being worked by another vendor?

eScan respects the role of the third-party eligibility vendor as a key part of the revenue cycle process. Therefore eScan will hold back the reporting of all accounts classified as Medicaid Pending for 45 days from the time the account has become certified and billable to Medicaid. This safety net feature is invoiced at a reduced rate.

3. Does eScan provide Ad Hoc reports upon request?

eScan prides itself on creating and delivering customized reports in a timely manner when requested by the Provider.

4. Why does eScan require a placement file that includes all patient accounts?

There is value in all Medicaid coverage wherever it is found. Secondary, Medicaid discovered behind commercial insurance and Medicare can count as additional DSH days if the accounts are inpatients. The Medicare deductibles may be billable to Medicaid. Also, by receiving all of the Provider’s accounts, eScan is able to configure its reports in a fashion that gives a measurable view of how the hospital’s internal and third party processes are working.

5. How can we know that eScan will deliver as promised?

eScan will run all of a hospital’s patient accounts against the Medicaid database at no obligation to the hospital. eScan will report its findings in easily understood and easily workable reports. The facility can bill the accounts to Medicaid and get paid. Should the Provider see no value in eScan or not want to go forward for any reason, it can keep the monies paid by Medicaid and owe eScan nothing. However, should the Provider elect to sign the License Agreement, eScan will charge for all of its findings.

6. Can eScan run our data in multiple States?

eScan can run your data in any state as long as you have a Provider Number for that state and eScan is setup to run data in that particular state.

7. How can we assure that our PHI is fully protected?

eScan is fully compliant with HIPAA and HITECH security standards. No data is allowed to enter or leave our premises in an unencrypted format. In addition, we have employed a number of security measures to ensure the protection of sensitive data in our possession including full electronic monitoring of access to our facility, proactive training and monitoring of our staff, and monthly security team reviews. 8. What is the timeline for implementing eScan?

eScan can go from zero to full production in just a few weeks. The roadblocks may be EDI processing, hospital IS priorities, priorities of the business office, etc. If a client is fully committed, eScan can be implemented in days.
