Medicaid Payments to Idaho Providers Delayed

Posted Administrator Account on 3/27/2010

A state budget crunch will cause Idaho health care providers to see delays in reimbursement for providing services under Medicaid.

All providers could experience delays starting next month, with hospitals and nursing homes subject to the longest delays.

Federal Medicaid law allows limited delays in reimbursement providers, but state officials said that the state would catch up on payments after June 30, the start of the fiscal year.

Even though the majority of Medicaid payments come from federal funds, state finances are too tight to pay even the state’s share.

State officials are hoping that state revenues are adequate in the coming fiscal year to cover that year’s obligations, as well as the funds committed to making the delayed Medicaid payments.
