ACS has been granted a ten-year contract to manage Medi-Cal’s Management Information System (MMIS.)

ACS, a subsidiary of Xerox Corporation, is also charged with providing upgrades to the system to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.   The value of the contract is estimated at $1.2 billion. ACS is currently scheduled to take over operations beginning in February 2011.

During the contract period, ACS will move the state’s systems over to the company’s ACS Health Enterprise platform.

Data center operation and application management services will be performed by IBM on a subcontractor basis.

Other services to be rendered under the contract include provider claims payment, beneficiary relationship services, and privacy protection services.
