Despite concerns over the health care reform legislation, a Kaiser Health poll shows a modest increase in the number of Americans having a favorable opinion of it.
The June Kaiser Health Tracking Poll found that 48% of respondents rated the new law favorably, an increase of seven percentage points from May, and two points higher than April.
Respondents who were undecided comprised 10%, a four point decline from May.
Opposition, however, remained relatively strong with 41% having an unfavorable opinion towards the reforms.
While concern about the economy was the most important issue among all respondents, those opposed to the health care reform felt dissatisfaction with government was more important.
When respondents were asked for their opinion on specific elements of the health care reforms, support for those elements were much higher than support for the legislation overall, indicating a general lack of understanding of the law.
